#ShieldEuros, Group A complete!

As the group stages in the #ShieldEuros start to come to a close, we take a look back at the highlights of our interactions this past week. During the game between the Republic of Ireland and Sweden, with the score at 1-0, we tweeted our good friends at My Paintbrush UK to see if they were confident of getting back into the game. Oddly, they decided to show support for the opposition... Fortunately, the rest of us were cheering on the teams we were drawn in the sweepstake, with some opting to support their nations in inventive ways! Of course, when the goals start flying in, people begin to gain confidence in their team. Even those with Hungary - who at one stage had the joint best record in the tournament -were asking for the winners prize (there's a long way to go yet Rich!) Portugal were one of the last to get their campaign underway and a lot of expectation fell on the shoulders of Cristiano Ronaldo. Bev Reid was no exception to this, heaping huge pressure on 'Ronnie' for both of their opening group games! And yes, it's fair to say the penalty miss and 0-0 draw with Austria didn't go down so well with those who were drawn Portugal. Last night saw the final games of Group A, where those with Albania were cheering on the opposition Romania in the hope of winning the prize for 'worst team'. But with their first, and only goal at a major competition, Albania actually gave themselves a chance of qualifying from the group stages! This was much to the displeasure of Anna, who'd got her heart set on the booby prize. With the finale of the group stages this week, don't miss the action from the #ShieldEuros live on our Twitter page. @PaintersProtect
