Life began for us in 1977.
Initially we made a wide range of work wear across many sectors, but because of the recession in the early 1980s which also coincided with the rise of clothing imports, the manufacturing side of our business took a hit. So from here, we went back to the drawing board in order to secure our long term future.
Having decided to embrace the concept of niche marketing, our initial focus was to provide work wear to professional painters and decorators.
From our small premises in Hillsborough, Sheffield, we sold a range of only 6 garments, which later expanded to over 50 products as the brand continued to progress.
Due to continued expansion of the business, we moved into a bigger premises in 1988, and then again in 2003. We like to call this Shield House, and it is still our home today.
Not only do we continue to lead the way in painters and decorators work wear, but we are now established across other niche markets, including ambulance and paramedic uniform, courier and transport clothing, and more. As well as this, we’re happy to say we have a strong manufacturing presence once again, which continues to grow.
Despite the changes to Shield Quality at Work over the years, our values have never changed.

Our future is a bright and ambitious one, and we look forward to meeting and surpassing our goals over the coming months, years, and decades.
